Presentation Skills > Presentation Skill Resources > Presentation Templates Presentation Templates : PowerPoint Makes it Easy PowerPoint is a great presentation program for classes and business use. However some people can not come up with how to set up a presentation at all. Having as many choices as PowerPoint gives them, is too many choices. They need someone to help. They know what they want to say and a basic idea of how it needs to look but all the possibilities are overwhelming. Luckily PowerPoint has several templates so that you just put your information in and save it. It’s not just about being lost or confused for some that PowerPoint has templates. There are those who really don’t understand how to make a presentation look “just right” and those need the help that is offered. They may know they want all the pages to have a white background with red triangle coming through the left side. But after that they get lost. So with the templates they can see how to roll bullets onto the screen from the bottom. This technique can be applied to every single presentation page to give it a similar layout. Many business presentations are done in this way. The rolling of bullets may also be something the person wants, but they may not know how to make it happen. If that is the case just pick the template with this feature and insert your own words. PowerPoint is user friendly for those not familiar with it. It is a program designed for anyone to use and be able to present their information to an intended group. And the templates can be used on as many or as few screens as needed. A really neat feature is that while a template may be picked for the style used, the color may not be what the presenter wants. This can be changed as well. Even when using a template, nothing is set in stone. The templates allow this change because the user is learning how to make a presentation with them. They may not realize it at the time. Basics of a template are the screen and boxes that will flash across the screen for the viewer. Each page can be changed as needed for the presentation with more templates on the side for each page. In this way every page can have the same color scheme but be different in layout and style. It is even designed to let the creator add pictures where needed at any time. This can be handy if the presenter has never used PowerPoint before. Pictures can come from anywhere to add in the presentation. You can do a search online for what you need or take it from your own personal pictures. Depending on the type of presentation, this can be extremely handy to use. A court may use pictures from a wreck to show how much damage was done to a car so that the lawyer wins a case. Here adding their own pictures is essential and by using PowerPoint, can be shown to everyone at once, quickly. Not having to guess where to put the pictures, especially in a case like this where time can be limited, important. Templates are there to make it easy for even the most computer presentation-illiterate person look smart. They can change what they want to and keep what they like without starting from scratch. Some just can’t handle too many choices. Using the templates can also help with those in a hurry so they can have professional looking presentations without much work. And for some all that matters is saving time once the research is finished. |
