Why is Business Analysis Training important for an organization?

Before we find out the answer to this question, we will need to understand first what a Business Analyst (BA) is and what his/her role is in an organization. Generally, a BA is the professional who is assigned with the task of analyzing the business needs of the organization’s clients and stakeholders. • post implementation documentation and closing of files

The above are in very short, what it is required of a BA vis-à-vis a business project.  In day to day life the BA will be required to:

• guide and counsel the stakeholders towards working out effective methods and ways to successfully complete a project
• provide solution to issues as well as be able to identify these
• identify risks and find solutions; manage risks
• coordinate and liaison with other projects in order to maintain coherence and correlation where applicable
• coordinate and liaison with outside agencies and business houses for better management of risks
• constantly work on improving the internal and external business processes
• collect and identify business requirements
• be able to analyze data
• be able to map and analyze processes
• forecast developments and work out relevant strategies
• produce effective and qualitative documentation
• act as an architect for the inner business structure and the business process of the organization
• have excellent communication skills and motivational abilities

The role and responsibilities of a Business Analyst

From the activity chart outlines above, the role and responsibilities of a BA during the SDLC are more or less evident. He/she would have to:

1. assist with the business case from germination to the end
2. check out the feasibility of the business need before it is launched
3. collect the material for the requirements of the project
4. draft, design and review the test cases
5. keep track and process requests for change
6. constantly trace and keep track of the implementation position (matric of trace ability)
7. manage and supervise the project operations
8. accept, install and deploy resources in order to bring about the project to its logical conclusion

Looking at the various hats a BA will have to wear; it is obvious that there is no definite path that will lead to a professional to become a business analyst.
